Cosmonaut Fyodor Yurchikin has told journalists that Charles Simonyi has stated that Bill Gates is also planning a space trip.
I think that now reaching space is so safe that it can become a must-have experience for anyone who can afford it. Anyone who can space $25 million for a 10-12 day trip will want to go there.
Charles Simonyi is the fifth space tourist and I can bet that soon we will also see the sixth. Will it be Bill Gates...? We cannot tell you that because there is no confirmation from Bill Gates.
As reported by the Associated Press, Yurchikhin told journalists: ‘So the next time someone will be with Bill Gates. For me this is the biggest surprise of our flight.’
Such trips will definitely spark new competition in between Virgin Galactic and Space Adventures.
Space Adventures is also looking for more ways to earn money. The company is not just offering $25 million worth of multiday trips. They also are offering some more packs for space travel. For $100 million you will be able to orbit the Moon, for $100,000 you can have a five minute sub-orbital space flight. This one sounds similar to the offers by Virgin Galactic but at almost half the price.
The only question that still remains is how much for a trip to Moon and back and by when should we be able to go there.
We all know that Bill Gates can drop any amount of money for any of the above plans, but when will he be planning for that is still a mystery.
