Titan CloudThough their weather patterns are at great variance, distinct bands of clouds that form at the earth’s equator can explain the similar phenomenon at the mid-latitudes in Titan’s southern hemisphere. Their formation procedures are the same, as scientists of the University of Arizona claim. Titan’s weather forecast has remained the same for years, and that is what baffles scientists and astronomers. It’s a great enigma for them, as clouds stretch thousand miles over the temperate latitude.
It is evident from the highly localized nature of the clouds that they have something to do with Titan’s surface. Scientists think it is methane that ice volcanoes kicks out, and it is the gas that condenses as clouds into Titan’s hazy, mostly nitrogen atmosphere. Since methane is destroyed by ultraviolet sunlight, it is a supporting evidence that the moon’s atmospheric methane did not vanish billions of years ago, which would have otherwise.
