This illustration shows Earth's magnetosphere (in blue) mixing with solar wind -- forming a shock area called bow shock

The space above the earth surrounding us fizzes with bubbles of super-hot gas! The bubbles constantly grow and pop around the Earth. It is where the Earth’s magnetic field merges with a constant stream of particles that flow out from the sun, according to astronomers.

The gas density in the newfound bubbles is 10 times lower and it is technically called density holes. Instead of the temperature of the surrounding hot gas being 180,000 degrees Fahrenheit, the gas in the bubbles is 18,000,000 Fahrenheit (10,000,000 Celsius). This region of the bubbles is known as plasma.

This reveals that the space, we commonly called a vacuum, is in fact filled with gas.
