Astronomers and Space scientists who have contributed greatly in the exploration of 28 new planets encircling different stars (just like Sun) have opined that our Solar system is not one of its kinds at all; and it is not distinctive too. They have postulated that there are billions of habitable and livable planets in our universe.

This amazing revelation has widened the thinking horizons of human race. So, do not be bewildered if I tell you that Space scientists have discovered around 236 exoplanets (planets that are not part of our solar system). This breathtaking news was made public at the American Astronomical Society, Honolulu, on Monday.

Leading professor of astronomy, Sir Geoffrey Marcy, from the University of California Berkeley, commented that - “We are beginning to see that our home is not a rarity in the universe.”

While on a telephonic interview he added - “We are easily able to detect giant planets like Jupiter and Saturn around other stars. Most orbit far from the star like our own Jupiter and Saturn orbit from the sun; it’s a common structure among planetary systems.”

New age scientific equipments and apparatuses have furnished the researchers with techniques that can identify planets that are small in size and not big such as our planet “Earth”. Marcy also added that - “We are finding that most stars have not just one planet but when we find one there is a second or a third or a fourth.”
