The SOHO (Solar and Heliospheric Observatory) spacecraft is really doing an appreciable job by still recording solar activity almost eleven years after its launch. These images and data sent by SOHO inform scientists about the Sun’s nature and behavior and enable them to predict space weather and events affecting our planet.
Without SOHO, it might not have been possible to accomplish the space explorations and other space launches of importance. Discovering a new comet in a SOHO picture is as if another medal attached to its splendid achievements. If SOHO continues to work the way it is right now, space weather scientists won’t have the problems to predict the coming dangers like the comets towards the Earth precisely.
