It’s not the dreamers, it’s the doers that have created this new market.
Space tourism has turned from a fantasy, into an idea, and now an industry. It is because of people like Dr Simonyi that deserves the credit for this. Dr Simonyi who proudly calls himself a nerd unlike some of his predecessors, the soft engineer is already well qualified to undertake the mission to the I.S.S. next year in March.
He who holds pilot licenses for jets and helicopters and has more than 2,000 hours of flying time under his belt is someone who really- really loves to hang out in the air and this is his chance to be in the space in the micro gravity. But the guy who is so passionate about adventures don’t deserve to be called a nerd.
Space Adventures that has arranged for Dr Simonyi’s $20-25 million dollar trip will definitely assist space station research and involve people in the real world to participate actively for this industry.
All the best for his ride into the space in March next year and hopefully he completes grueling physical and technical regime to accomplish the mission. May all his noble goals be achieved from his trip and gets a chance to control the Russian Soyuz spacecraft for which he is learning about the systems, not strange though for the engineering curiosity.
