Malaysia will be issuing guidelines for its first astronaut enabling flexibility in eating space meals and offering prayers during zero gravity. Since Malaysia is a Muslim dominated country therefore the government is coming out with guidelines for its astronaut under the Islamic law.
This is being done as a Malaysian astronaut would be becoming a part of the Russian scientific mission on the International Space Station. Since very few Muslims have undertaken space journeys and there are no standardized guidelines for them therefore it had become necessary to come up with an Islamic code of conduct for space. A booklet has been published in this regard and it should be followed as per the capability of the astronaut. I feel that religion should not be intermingled with technology since the conditions in space are quite difficult and it can become problematic to follow the rules of religion out there therefore they should be offered flexibility in that regards.
