A mind-blowing finding has defied the age-old textbook information on the shape of our solar system – i.e. its being ‘elliptical’ – which defines the shape of an egg, with the Sun at the center of it.
NASA has recently come up with its new claim that our solar system is ‘bullet shaped’ and not elliptical! Thanks to the data collected by two Voyager spacecraft of NASA.
The new finding also challenges the age-old concept that the solar system’s sun and planets smear through the space’s ‘void’ at an approximate speed of 62,000 miles (100,000 kilometers) an hour.
The new study reveals that it streaks within a bubble of solar wind — called the heliosphere – and not through the void of space. The heliosphere is made of charged particles from the sun.
The solar system takes on its bullet-like streamlined shape, followed by its striking the magnetic field at this angle. The edge of this bubble collides with the magnetic field of the Milky Way galaxy at a distance some 200 times farther from the sun than Earth is.
Amazingly, the interstellar magnetic field is found to be inclined at a 60-degree angle relative to the plane of the Milky Way!
So, its time for school text books and parents to aware children of the revolutionary findings on the shape of our solar system — thanks to the NASA experts.
