After 1978, when Pluto is discovered to be accompanied by its moon Charon, it is in May 2005, astronomers discovered two more moons of the planet, which is about two to three times as far from the ninth planet in the solar system as its large moon.
The two newly-discovered moons of the planet have been officially given astronomical names — Nix and Hydra. The International Astronomical Union approved these two names this week. The Union deals with cosmic bodies’ names.
Nix - It gets its name from the mythical goddess of darkness and night.
Hydra — It is a nine-headed serpent monster. The outermost moon of Pluto gets this name.
