Some mysterious clouds fifty miles above the earth would be studied by a NASA spacecraft which has been launched on Wednesday. These noctilucent clouds appear only at night and have turned brighter over the past few years. These clouds appear around the polar region. The spacecraft will be spending around two years studying ice clouds and probably give an answer as to whether these are natural clouds or have been formed as a result of global warming.

These clouds have been named Aeronomy of Ice in the Mesosphere or AIM. The spacecraft was launched over Pacific Ocean in an orbit three hundred and seventy miles above the Earth. The rocket also features a logo in memory of students killed in Virginia Tech shootout. These clouds had been first spotted in 1880s after a massive volcano which rocked Indonesian island of Krakatoa but it is for the first time that exclusive studies are being conducted to study these clouds.
