methane on TitanAstronomers had previously found that Saturn’s moon Titan is engulfed with a vast sea of methane gas, and were pondering on its source. Thanks to the Mauna Kea astronomers. They have found evidence that methane gas is shooting out of cracks on the surface of Titan. Clouds of the gas can be seen from Earth coming from above methane vents or volcanoes. These findings of Michael Brown, an astronomy professor at the California Institute of Technology and others, throwing light on the source of the satellite’s methane is been published in the journal Science. The research team has used the Keck Observatory and Gemini North Observatory for the commendable research.
