big-bang_9The first object that emerged after the Big Bang has left scientists debating on what that might be! - Is it the cosmic glow, the first star or quasar? Analyzing the infrared radiation from deep space, using NASA’s Spitzer Space Telescope, the researchers first removed the recent galaxies’ bright signal, which were in the foreground to enable detecting the ancient background glow.

Removing it, the researchers spotted clumps in this infrared background radiation! They believe that these glows come from the first objects that emerged from the Big Bang.

Alexander Kashlinsky at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center said,

Observing the cosmic infrared background is like watching distant fireworks from within a brightly lit city. It’s as if we have turned off the city lights one by one to see the bursts more clearly.

As an alternative prediction, the researchers say that the distant glow could have come from quasars! Quasars are large black holes that consume enormous amounts of gas and debris, re-emitting the materials in powerful burst of energy.
