Iran has declared that the country has successfully their maiden rocket into space.
Mohsen Bahrami, the head of Iran’s Space Research Center, stated that the country has been successful in firing their first space missile or space rocket.
No more details on the launch were provided by the agency.
Iran had announced its space plans in the past and had stated that the country wants to launch five satellites into space by 2010.
The rocket reached an altitude of 150km but did not stay in orbit. It came back to Earth with the help of parachutes.
The International standard of the boundary between earth’s atmosphere and space is at 100km above the ground, this means that Iran has made its successful space launch.
Iran hopes to launch four more satellites by 2010.
