India has got into the business mode in the arena of launching satellites in space. Their first commercial assignment involved launching a PSLV for Italy. It was launched from the Sriharikota base in south India. Within twenty three minutes of launch the rocket sent the satellite into space. The 352 kg Italian satellite will be collecting information regarding the origins of universe. With this launch India has proved that it can give competition to some of the established countries in this arena. India charged $11 million for the assignment which is far less than what is charged by other countries if they had undertaken the same work.
India had been working on developing a low cost launch technology for quite some time. It will be further reaching new heights in the world of space when it launches an unmanned mission to moon next year. All this is expected to improve the image of India in the world of space research and attract a number of countries to avail their services.
