Endeavour mission, which has been in news all the year with some bad experiences, is once again in news.
This time Hurricane Dean has forced the mission control center to cut short the mission for a day early landing of the crew as the increasing strength of the storm is threatening Southern U.S. coast.
This Saturday, Canadian astronaut Dave Williams made history by free-floating in space for 17 hours and 47 minutes to complete his third spacewalk aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour, he accomplished this chore before unlocking from ISS. He now has done the zero gravity stroll more than any other Canadian astronaut has.
The astronauts Used Endeavour’s robot arm and a 50-foot-long Orbiter Boom Sensor System to inspect the nose cap and the leading edges of the wings to make sure the orbiter is ready for re-entry on landing day. STS-118’s first landing opportunity on Tuesday is at 12:32 p.m.
NASA officials changed their plan as Hurricane Dean threatens the Houston area, in the southern state of Texas, where NASA’s mission control base at Johnson Space Centre is located.
