hubbleIt seems, the astronomers have geared up once again to explore the apparently already explored moon. Either they feel, they have been neglecting it for long or are not ready to accept any new finding there after they touch its surface in 2018. to sooth their curious and egoistic mind, the NASA fraternity is using the unique capabilities of the Hubble Space Telescope for a new class of scientific observations of the Earth’s moon. On August this year, Hubble imaged Aristarchus crater and nearby Schroter’s Valley rille, revealing fine-scale details of the crater’s interior and exterior in ultraviolet and visible wavelengths. Hubble’s resolution and sensitivity to ultraviolet light have searched for important oxygen-bearing minerals on the moon. It is contemplated that minerals, such as ilmenite (titanium and iron oxide) are a potential source of oxygen for breathing or to power rockets.
