A recent report shows that the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has published a new law, base on the guidelines of Inter-Agency Space Debris Coordinating Committee (IADC), group of 11 international space agencies responsible for monitoring pollution over space that all U.S.-licensed satellites launched after March 22, 2002, is to be chucked into the orbital graveyard to reduce population of debris on space.
As per Dr. William Ailor, lead of the U.S. delegation on International Organization for Standardization’s (ISO) Orbital Debris Coordinating Working Group:
These standards will capture best practices in satellite design, manufacture and operation that support international space debris minimization goals. They will help satellite owners and operators be ‘good citizens’ in efforts to protect the near-Earth space environment.Really Rocket Science
