Professor Stephen Hawking the best known Scientist of today has turned 65 today and there is nothing stopping this genius.

He has stated that he is planning a zero gravity flight this year with plans to go to the space in 2009. The zero gravity flight often referred to as ‘vomit comet’ is an aircraft that descends at such a pace that the passengers inside are temporarily weightless.

Prof Hawking will be sponsored by Sir Richard Branson whose SpaceShipTwo has been designed to carry six passengers to a low earth orbit and then bring them back safely.

The craft has to be lifted to a height of 50,000ft on a mother ship and on that height the craft ignites its own engines to reach a height of 360,000ft at a speed of 2,500mph. The flight costs around £100,000 but Sir Richard will sponsor Prof Hawking’s tour.

The genius Professor also the writer of many books on space and technology has a very sad past. He was struck by a Motor Neurone disease when he was just 21 years old. The doctors at that time had told him that he had another year or two to live. The disease also called as MND is common as Multiple Sclerosis has received very little attention from the medical point of view.

Prof Hawking wants to take the research on the disease forward and for the purpose he has also offered his DNA to a project to scan the genetic code for the clues to the cause.

We wish you a very Happy Birthday Professor Hawking.
