Billionaire Robert Bigelow could spark the buzz in the commercial space race as, Nevada has announced on August 13 that it is proceeding ahead directly with the first human orbital space module, the Sundancer building upon the recent success of two orbiting platforms, the Genesis 1 and Genesis 2.
Earlier, Bigelow Aerospace had announced to launch Sundancer, the first module designed for human habitation, which intends to have three large multi-module outposts in Earth orbit by 2015.
But, rise in global launch coast over the past few years forced Bigelow to rethink about his future plans with Galaxy and change the schedule for the launch of Sundancer.
Bigelow Aerospace has decided to skip one-step, which can bring the Sundancer module in the orbit much before the schedule previously decided. That mean it can be even before 2010.
Bigelow Aerospace could offer space stations on a turnkey basis for use by orbital hotel operators, commercial researchers or even a new crop of national space programs.
Now, Mr. Bigelow is just waiting to decide an orbital spaceship to transport passengers to world’s first private-sector space station. He can have SpaceX Dragon, or a Rocketplane Kistler K-1, or a SpaceShipThree, or even an extra Russian Soyuz craft for his one of the greatest business purpose ever.
