An asteroid named Apophis may get too close to the Earth and can even strike our planet on April 13, 2036.
We all know about the deadly force that an asteroid packs in it. A single blow from just a mile long asteroid can completely wipe out the entire human civilization from Earth.
Now U.N has urged astronomers to monitor the asteroid closely and take some immediate steps to protect the human civilization on the planet.
Astronomers who are monitoring the asteroids claim that Apophis has a 1 in 45,000 chance of striking the planet in 2036.
We have to admit that the odds of a strike are very low, but what if the odds are high...?
Currently no space agency has been successful in developing a fool proof plan to deflect or destroy these huge rocks.
The best approach in dealing with such rocks is to try and deflect them so that they don’t hit earth. This mission can be accomplished by using a Gravity Tractor to pull away the asteroid from an Earth impact path.
The spacecraft will take a time of 12 days to deflect an asteroid as large as Apophis, which is 460 feet wide.
Mission costs are estimated to be close to $300 Million. This research is still in the books and if you consider the current scenario there is nothing that can protect the planet if an asteroid was to strike now at this very instant...!
