Rocky rings around Sun-like stars revealed

They are found around relatively old, Sun-like stars. They are two discs of rocky material, a new study reveals. Scientists contemplate that the finds may shed light on the formation and structure of a similar disc, called the Kuiper Belt, in our own solar system.



New study questions dark matter in galaxies

Dark matter in the space has come into question with a new study as new paper examines galaxy rotation curves without exotic dark matter. It seeks to describe a modified Newtonian acceleration law, which is derived from a relativistic modification of Einstein’s gravitational theory.



Japan sets rocket launch for Tuesday

The first launch by the Japanese space agency in a year of its key H-2A rocket has been postpones till tomorrow. It will carry a satellite to monitor disasters, due to a technical error. The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency claims to have found the ground monitoring system with an erroneous setting Monday to gauge the temperature inside the rocket’s satellite fairing.



ISRO To Launch Indigenous Cryogenic Engine This Year

By this year-end, Indian Space Research Organization will be launching its Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) with a home-grown cryogenic engine, reports PTI. ISRO Chairman G Madhavan Nair told reporters that work is in an advanced stage. Soon they will have a hot test, after which the ISRO will take a decision.
